Requalification of Panamá Viejo routes

To avoid damage due from vehicle traffic to the structures of the first Spanish city in the Pacific, founded in 1519, provision is being made for moving “Via Cincuentenario” to a more northerly path, further from the largest structures in the “Panamá Viejo” archaeological site. This project also foresees widening of an approximately two-kilometre stretch of the road. A series of preparatory archaeological excavations have already produced interesting results.
