Involvement of civil society
In agreement with the Recommendation on the Historic Urban Landscape, with its emphasis that the context of Urban Historic "supports communities in their quest for development and adaptation, while retaining the characteristics and values linked to their history and collective memory, and to the environment”, Panama is making efforts to involve its citizens, interested parties and external observers in its projects, through information and direct and public discussion on the relevant themes. But these efforts must be collective: it would in fact be impossible to achieve all the realities involved if reciprocal efforts were lacking.
The materials published, a travelling exhibit and a Web site (www.panamacitywh.info) represent appropriate instruments for opening to an ever wider debate. Panama needs your opinion, your participation, your commitment, to design a model of life that satisfies the diverse needs with the best results possible. Because Cultural Heritage, like the sustainable development of local and global economies, is a common responsibility for all the world’s inhabitants.
